Talking about Recall, The 2012 Wrangler was the worst of the bunch. It caused Jeep to issue nine recalls due to design flaws, which ranked it higher than the 2007 and 2008 models with 10 and 9 recalls respectively.
According to John Gaines
It’s really opinion. Some prefer the 3.6, others prefer the 3.8.The 3.8 is a sloth, but easier to work on.The 3.6 has better power, but has oil cooler problems. Both have valve problems. So it’s really kind of a crap shoot. The 2011 has its own computer and 2012 is the first year of the 3.6.
I’ve had a 07 and it’s true about the sluggish 3.8.We now have a 13 with the 3.6 and it’s a night and day difference in power.Never had major issues with either one, buy what you can afford!
2007-2012. 2007-2011 have the 3.8 which can be fine but also can blow. 2012 had head casting issues. 2013+ either go ahead and fix the oil filter housing or plan on a thousand when it goes. No long term experience with JLs.
